Mutation Fox Tail by NightsGem Mutation Fox Tail by NightsGem
I interviewed a nice woman yesterday at the local flea market. She and her husband have been selling furs, leather, bones, crafts, native american goods, etc. for 15 years. After the interview, I commented on how I knew most tails that were there, except this one. She said it was a mutation, and then said "It's yours." After me stupidly saying "Really? Seriously? Mine" for several seconds, it sunk in that she really was giving me a beautiful fox tail for free.

Now, what in the world kind of mutation is this? It's an off-white cream color with darker spirals since the tail is twisted. Maybe an arctic mutation of some sort, right? At 16.5 inches long, it's nice.

To see a beautiful picture of it, I put one in my scraps. It's just a showy picture. [link]

Oh It's no marble. The dark fur is on the underside of the tail. The top is perfectly white. I have a brown marble and a blue marble. They're nothing like this. I'm guessing it's a mutation fox whose fur aged a bit.

I just bought a marble identical to this, it is a marble

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. Marbles have no coloring on the bottom on the tail, and scattered coloring on the top. This tail has coloring only on the bottom, and no coloring on top.

[link] It's not a marble. :/ I untwisted it. Trust me, I know my foxes, and this is no fox I know. It's just a mutation. Not a marble, arctic, or golden island. It was just a rancher having fun with their foxes.

It's been twisted, but it'd be lovely if they were natural! xD

Looks like my snow glow's tail, off-white cream with brown rings, so it could be one?

The sun is actually too bright so I had to dim my phone camera's lighting. But I'll take an indoor picture and get back to you.

Is that really a real fox tail? If that's the case then I wouldn't have even gone near the stall.

Yes, it is a real fox tail. Most likely this is a discarded tail from the fur industry. If that's the case, they're doing a huge favor by finding a use for it instead of it being left to rot in a landfill. All of my pelts are treated with more respect than anything else in my home.

Hmmhnn the key words being 'most likely'. Animals should be treated with respect while they're alive and well with their skin on their bodies, not while hanging on your wall.

I wasn't the one who killed it. I say most likely because it could have been wild, but with coloration like this, foxes are ranched. I treat living animals with respect as well, because I try to help any endangered species conservation group I can.

I'm only loving what's left and treating it with respect because I know what it once was, and in my religion, it has a spirit to it. None of my dead things hang on my wall. They're all worn out and about in my daily business. That is my choice, my religion, and I ask that you respect that when you come to my gallery and comment on my personal deviations.
